As per IDC’s research, unifying developer experience is the #1 consideration for organizations to improve performance and productivity across development activities. Yet one in two organizations indicate reception of their internal dev platforms by developers has been rather unsatisfactory. Furthermore, one in two organizations recognize there is shadow app development taking place in their organizations, posing a series of challenges to driving architectural and operational alignment, including elevated risk exposure across the application delivery landscape. Cost management is also a major challenge affecting teams operating cloud application estates, where 6 in 10 organizations indicate overspend relative to initial budgeting.

Such challenges can be solved by standing up capable platform teams focused on driving operational discipline while reconciling the needs and wants of multiple personas, including developers, operations, architecture, security and the business, while meeting the mandates for financial control, compliance, and governance.
